The LORD’s Heart for His hurting daughters…
Before we leave Hagar and continue with Isaac’s response, let’s look at the LORD’s Heart for His hurting daughters. Probably the most tender study in the Bible is the study of GOD’s Heart of compassion and love for His daughters who are sad and broken.
Think of some of the women in Scripture and the LORD’s Response to their plights:
❇️Sarah – Barren. “And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived …” (Genesis 21:1-2).
❇️Rebekah – Barren. “And Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife … and Rebekah his wife conceived …” (Genesis 25:2 1).
❇️Leah – Rejected. “When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb …” (Genesis 29:31).
❇️Rachel – Barren. “Then GOD remembered Rachel, and GOD listened to her and opened her womb …” (Genesis 30:22).
❇️Hannah – Barren and tormented by her adversary. “Hannah conceived …” (1 Samuel 1:20).
❇️Ruth – Bereaved and widowed, she was redeemed by Boaz (whose name means “strength is in him”). See the Book of Ruth.
❇️Naomi – Bereaved of two sons and her husband. How real was she in her grief?
He is passionate about you, He says, “I will never leave you bore forsake you.” But you may say, “Where was He when all this happened?”
I will tell you, “He is there, just put the anger away, you’ll see Him.”
