RETURN TO THE SOURCE

You waited for longer than your patience would contain for a spouse. Oh yes, you prayed, fasted, waited on the Lord. And when you were about to throw in the towel and hung the ‘old maiden’ sign post at your door, He answered.

He answered and you were stunned. In as much as a lot of underground work had been done, you knew beyond a doubt that this guy was more than you would have got had you done the hunt yourself.

You were very thankful and overjoyed. All through the few months of courtship and wedding preparations, gratitude was your second nature.

But now, just a few years into your marriage, you’ve forgotten how precious your husband is to you. Because of a few shortcomings, he is no longer the gem he once was but a pain.

You have forgotten about how frustrating the waiting period was, you actually think God made a mistake.

My sister, go back to the same God that gave you that husband and petition Him for help. He did not give you a perfect man otherwise, you would enjoy him so much that you forget about your source. Go back to where it started from, on your knees, and ask for help.

And I pray that you will never forget how precious it is to talk to your Father on a daily basis. For without Him in the picture, confusion is bound to reign.

FOR THE LOVE OF LIFE

kindergarten-in-south-africa.800.jpgprojects-abroad.com

She gave her life for the wellness of others. ‘To volunteer is to thrive’, had been her mantra. In that, she found peace, she found fulfilment. For Nancy, it has never been about money. Her satisfaction came from simple things like a smile from a once unhappy child, seeing a once ailing family get out of the woods, rescuing an abandoned child, helping an abused person and the like.

She, therefore made it a point to have no attachments to property or people because she had learned earlier in life that leaving was so painful. She hated the way her emotions had played havoc on her when it was time for goodbyes.

Needless to say, she had been to millions of locations. And after learning to keep her emotions in check, upping and leaving was no longer a problem.

It has been 20 years since she embarked on her humanitarian  journey and apart from failing to start a family of her own, she has no regrets. Besides, she’d been warned about that earlier in life and she had come to terms with it or rather made peace with it.

It has been one adventure after another with amassed fulfilment and contentment.

TURN THE BEND

mediahoarders_com_ng-african-american-couple-domestic-violence-16x9-the-trent.jpgYou are a brilliant lady, endowed with most that women out there are scavaging the beauty stores to attain. Your prowess, intelligence, finesse, gentility, are only enviable. And yet, you fail to take care of your own brood.

What is it that haunts you, my love? To the point of not wanting to have a hand in the grooming of your own? What is it that has taken over the motherly love I saw in you? Was it just a phase that has now expired? Or was it a way to entwine your husband in a web he would never untangle from?

Looking at your polished artificial long nails, I know for a fact that you can not wipe a child’s bottom without causing them harm. Your flawless palms say that there is little or no chemistry between them and meal preparation.

I am all for a well-kept woman, but not one that raises her feet to slumber while she watches the nanny soldier away with children she did not bare.

The last I checked, you were African to the core. So when did it become okay f54fe9afec0c23-couple-couple-s3.jpgor the house help to start changing your sheets and cleaning your bedroom? That is a manner of the white, and regardless of how hard you try, you can’t be like them. At least not on African soil.

If you want your marriage, and your family, wake up from that pretentious slumber and take on your tools. Go back to the ancient ways, do what women of old did; what you saw your mother and grandmother do; nurture your children, run your house, be a wife.
